In each level, the player must complete a set of objectives while computer-controlled opponents try to hinder the player's progress. JAMES BOND 007 NIGHTFIRE XBOX 360 SERIESGoldenEye 007 is a first-person shooter where the player takes the role of Secret Intelligence Service agent James Bond through a series of levels. Ammunition information is displayed at the bottom right corner. When the player takes damage, red and blue bars are displayed on the game's HUD, representing Bond's health and armour levels respectively. In addition, the original Nintendo 64 version is set to be simultaneously re-released on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in 2023. In 2022, a port was announced for Xbox One. A remake developed by Eurocom, also titled GoldenEye 007, was released in 2010. A spiritual successor, Perfect Dark, was released in 2000. The game is frequently cited as one of the greatest video games of all time, with many of its elements, such as the Klobb gun, having left an enduring impression in video game culture. It pioneered features such as atmospheric single-player missions, stealth elements, and multiplayer console deathmatch. GoldenEye 007 demonstrated the viability of home consoles as platforms for first-person shooters, and signalled a transition from Doom-like shooters to a more realistic style. In 1998, it received the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Games Award and four awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. It received critical acclaim, with praise given to its visuals, gameplay depth and variety, and multiplayer mode. Although it faced low expectations from the gaming media, it sold more than eight million copies, making it the third- best-selling Nintendo 64 game. After more than two and a half years of development, GoldenEye 007 was released shortly before the release of the GoldenEye sequel Tomorrow Never Dies. So what once was a stellar game has officially become part lemon.GoldenEye 007 is a 1997 first-person shooter video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. Just when you're about to blast your opponent with a guided missile, the game jumps into super slow-motion and the frame-rate effectively halves. With up to four human players and the addition of up to six computer-controlled 'BOTS', Nightfire is one of the best multi-player games on the market, until you hit the inevitable slow-down. 007: Nightfire is very, very addicting and very, very fun. This is a great way to break the action up a bit, but these 'alternate' levels are a bit too short, making it easy to beat the game in a relatively quick manner.Īnd, of course, Bond wouldn't be Bond without an awesome multi-player experience. You'll also be treated to driving levels, as well as shooting levels where you don't control the vehicles, but instead a gun inside the vehicles. True, you have 12 missions in Nightfire, but using a level twice is an unfortunate example of what takes place in the game.Īnother fun aspect of Nightfire is that not every level involves controlling Bond in the first-person perspective. The levels that you will be working through are very well-designed, but it's too bad there aren't more of them. If you want to unlock all of the goodies in the game (without using cheats), however, you'll have to find a balance between sneakiness and efficiently making your way through each level. The wide assortment of items at your disposal also makes Nightfire very strategic.Īlthough using stealth is definitely the preferred choice of infiltration, you don't really have to sneak up on everyone to get through the game. You'll quickly be drawn into the game as you flip through your Q-gadgets and arsenal of weaponry while infiltrating enemy bases. This year's incarnation is every bit of fun as last year's. Every aspect of the game just screams BOND, from the superb single-player to the addicting multi-player. 007: Nightfire is classic Bond at its best. ![]()
